Short Tour This Week

Monday, July 5th, 2010

Recording is done! Finished a few weeks ago, and now to put it all together…..

In the meantime, the band and I are going to play some shows on the road this week.  Got to stretch those legs and play some music.

Oh yeah, we’re finally on facebook!

Killer…

Saturday, May 1st, 2010

It’s about time for an update:

It’s three in the morning, and we just finished a great show to our hometown crowd in Regina.  It’s also snowing like crazy and it’s May 1st.  Only in Saskatchewan I know.

I realize that it’s been over a year since we released Runners in the Night, and over a year since we started recording our follow-up.  Killer has been in the works since February, and we’re still recording new songs for the future release.  As a songwriter, I continue writing as I’m recording, and those songs are then squeezed into the process.  As a result, it’s pushed the project off schedule.  Finishing recording the album by the end of May is my goal.  I can then get to the other matters that are part of releasing a finished product.  I’m convince that this album will be our finest yet, and the time we’ve spent on it will pay off.  I can also see now how bands take years between albums.

On another note.  Long time friend/bassist, Philip Legrand, is moving a way for a few months.  However, we’ve been lucky to have Joel Passmore(from the band Rah Rah and Sylvie)  join us on stage to fill in for Philip’s absence.

I’m excited about what this summer will bring, always moving forward…

Alberta Bound

Monday, February 15th, 2010

philip and meFinally, back on the road!

It’s been almost year since the band has played in Alberta, and since then I’ve written an album’s worth of material.  A collection that has yet to be heard by anyone outside of a few clubs in Regina, and will make up the next album.  The band is playing better than ever, and it’s going to be so much fun to get back on that highway with Nat, Suzanne, Philip and Matt.  It’s a short trip, but I am working on booking more shows abroad for the summer.

See you in Calgary and Edmonton later this week!

2010!

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

Hey Everyone,

I’ve posted a mix of the new song “Killer” on myspace.  It’s one of nine songs we’re preparing for a future release.    Also, the band I are going to play Calgary and Edmonton this February!

Happy New Year,

Chad

Here’s a clip from last night’s show in Regina:

Live vs Studio

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

Picture a packed house, people lined up out the doors, the hometown football team secures a first place playoff spot, and the band rises to the occasion.   That’s what last night was all about.  It’s been five years playing live music, and it’s not every day we get to play to a packed place brimming with that much excitement.  And for me personally, the best part was having the new songs received with such enthusiasm.

Aside from the live performances, I’m just as excited about how these new songs are coming along in the studio.  The last album that we recorded were songs that had been written and performed for a long time.  There was a need for me to record them so I could move onto the next stage of my songwriting.  It’s feeling good in that this next album will consist of songs that were written during a six month period.  I believe it’s the strongest material I’ve ever recorded, and the way Matt and I are producing the album is more creative than my past projects.

I’m hoping that my next update will have some tracks for you to hear.  Some are very close to being finished.

New website. New recordings. New Shows.

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

Hey everyone,

Lots has been going on with me and the band.  First off, we’ve been recording all summer and should have some new songs to preview in upcoming blogs this fall. These songs are so new that the band first heard many of them in the studio(usually we play them live several times before we record).  I also took most of the summer off from playing shows to spend time with family, and get more recording done.  But we’re back at it! The band recently played our first show since the spring at Bushwakker’s in Regina.  It was great to have Philip, Suzanne, Nat and Matt back together and I’m looking forward to our first Winnipeg club date later this month.  Keep checking the events page for updates, as I’m currently working on new dates for Regina, Saskatoon, Calgary and Edmonton.

The first dates begin with a string of shows through Western Canada in February and again in May. Dates are posted on myspace.com/chadkichula and chadkichula.com. I’d also like to thank my friends and fellow musicians for their time and efforts that they put into this album. Your ideas and commitments were extraordinary and the album couldn’t have been the same with out you. Take care everyone, Chad.
